Pecker Tracks is a humorous, coming-of age tale set in rural Montana in 1979, before there were cell-phones, 24-hour news stations, and all of the distractions of today. It takes us back to a simpler time when kids could be kids and parents didn't have to worry about them. The story centers around Ronny and this two pals and their frolicking adventures with Mary Ellen, the new girl in town.

I grew up in the Fort Peck and Park Grove area and this book captures everything that is unique and special about not only being a young teenager, but going through those formative years in that area of NE Montana. I spent many days fishing under the bridge at Park Grove and the description of the thumping sound vehicles make as they cross this bridge took me back 25 years in an instant. Girls that came to stay with extended family in the summer were always the number one topic among us teenage boys in the area and Mary Ellen was a excellent character to represent everything that went along with that. It is a great story that I will recommend to everyone, and especially to those of us that grew up there. Two side notes
1. I apologize to Mr. Rock for any grammatical errors in my review if he should happen to read it. I know you tried to teach me to be better.
2. I hope any of us that grew up there knew instantly who the Johnny Squidd (I think I got the name right) is, and I hope Mark C. Is doing well.

Pecker Tracks RS Dees 9781483595436 Books Reviews
All who grew up in this era should read this and also those of us who had teenagers at this time! I recognize these kids! I'm sure they came to my house! Great read!
This book was a delightful read in spite of the lack of zombies and vampires! It truly was a great trip back in time to when life was much simpler, but in many ways better. I laughed out loud at some parts and smiled while cringing at others recalling the stupidity and recklessness of my own youth. I highly recommend it for anyone as it is surely a timeless classic. Might I suggest a sequel? Maybe Pecker Heads?
URGENT request to the powers that be at 20th Century Fox, MGM, United Artists, CBS, NBC, ABC, Netflix, AMC, HBO, Showtime, Prime Movies, et al. Read Pecker Tracks. Relive your youth. Laugh a lot. Cry a little. Relish the exquisite multi-twist ending. Put the book down. Think, for just a moment, about the thoroughly enjoyable, evocative masterpiece you have just had the privilege of reading. Then, pick up the phone, make the requisite calls. Then, duh, make a movie, or better yet, a series. Unless, of course, you have no interest in a BLOCKBUSTER!
What a fantastic story! It definitely brought be back to my youth. Growing up in this same town, it was fun to read and re-live some of the experiences. But aside from my personal experience, this was a fun read. It definitely brings you back to the 70's when there were no cell phones and screens, Mom's had Tupperware and Bridge parties ripe with perfume, and days of freedom and innocence. I only wish my kids could experience life as we knew it. You might think that the kids in this book had too much freedom... but that is how it was. Thanks Rick for writing this! Maybe there will be another?
Not to be misled by the title of this charmingly witty and heart warming story. Once you understand small town, Fort Peck, Montana the title is seemingly fitting. Based in the 70's the author transports those of us who grew up in this time back to a time of teenage innocence and good hearted small town fun minus the influence of Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and social media (almost forgot about these great times). With trials and tribulations of teenage-hood along the way this enchanting story of growing up introduces us to characters who are especially likable and easily remind us of classmates or family members we have known and/or do know. It is refreshing to know there are authors who are still writing about the wonders of small town America making you laugh, love, cry, worry, rejoice and take a trip down memory lane reminiscing about the good old days, all in one story. For those of you in love with the 70's era you will also love how the author has cleverly placed many 70's references throughout the story. How many can you catch?? This book is definitely worth the read!!
Wow, the author was able to recreate my life and memories of the 70's. From 6 packs of Shasta root beer, mom's Tupperware parties, Happy Days and The Adventures of Sheriff Lobo, making bologna sandwiches, Old Milwaukee beer to my red and black KISS belt buckle.
The author was really good about teaching and sharing his knowledge of fishing, of which I did not know much about. But what I do know about is being a 15 year old boy growing up in a small town. Spending my summer with my buddies celebrating the 4th of July picnics in the park to the run ins with the sheriff. Uf da.
My favorite line in the book is a wonderful visual that Mr. Dees writes about one of his characters, Butch, who has ripped his cutoffs in the bait shop and decides to fix them himself "His seamstress skills had made it appear as though the ass cheeks in his shorts were permanently puckered up."
Pecker Tracks rocks and is an enjoyable summer afternoon read. I highly recommend it for anyone that grew up in 70's.
I cannot say enough great things about this book! Reading it took me straight back to my own youth in a rural setting and had me both laughing and pulling on my heart strings as it sparked many of my own memories from a time and place that had been dormant for far too long. Being told from the mans perspective in such an honest way was touching and i simply could not put this book down until i read every last word! The author has a unique ability to put you right there with him as he experienced navigating his way through a first love and the depth of the new emotions that are associated with that time in our lives. Growing up in that era was magical and i am grateful to this writer for his inspiration and giving me the opportunity to go back in time to that place that will always be home in my heart. His writing style is unique and wonderful and i want more! Thank you for the memories! ♡
